Generation Why

OK, so I'm going to be a total bitch (it's OK, karma already got me by making my camera fall out on to the wet toilet floor. Yeah gross, I threw the arm strap in the bin). I know I'm going to sound like a complete hater, but Mexi and I are embarrassed to be Aussie.

Adelaide is in town:

Mex and I headed down to the sold out show at Sam's to say a quick hello to the boys. I kind of expected the place to be full of rowdy Aussies, but it was worse than that. The door list was written on the back of a receipt, promoters were aimlessly wandering around acting like they were king shit and shitlets. Yeah, I see your gigantic backstage pass. Here's a tip - don't get wasted at the gig you're promoting. You may have spent hours getting dressed and putting your make up on, but your gurn face doesn't match your outfit.

Aussie snowboarding generation Y's make up the majority of the mountain. I've had my turn living, working and partying here, but it was never like this. Maybe I'm getting old... Pretty much everyone had their gurn on and 90% of them were idiot beer spilling, badly dressed, yahoo-ing jerks.

Girls - just because I ask where you got your shoes, doesn't mean you need to do the 'I'm pointing at you and we're friends' dance. Don't look me up and down for no reason and if you want to get past, don't f'n touch or push me, especially if you're a guy.

There was dirty dancing

The hype man was getting the crowd rowdy by yelling "Hilltop Hoods! Are you ready? I want to see some crowd surfing!" after every track Reflux played. Shortly followed up with "You all need to calm down or they won't come on stage. The security are getting mad!"

No disrespect to the Hoods and Reflux at all. The show was good as always, it was just the punters that made it slightly unbearable.

Someone wanted to take our photo

This is her

When we left, the toilet had moved outside

And the cops came. 911 is a joke.

...yep, looks like I'm old and bitter.

Wing night

Wednesday is 30c wing night at Sam's. This was a poor effort on our behalf, but we're still in training for next week.

Last wing standing

Now it's snowing outside our window. I'll be getting up early tomorrow.

Early Days

Ahhh now we're hooked up to join the rest of the world...we have internet! We'll definitely be updating wayyyy more often.

Our flight was good - we had a brand new plane, our own tv's, mood lighting (yes!) and the usual plane food. The 14 hour haul was fine until we got to the airport and my bag wasn't there (it didn't leave Sydney). I went 3 days wearing the same t-shirt and jeans. Thankfully Sopho took me to army navy where I could pick up some super cheap essentials. Army Navy is the equivalent of the reject shop, but clothes.

Sopho and Josh are the greatest hosts ever (by the way, the view from their apartment rules, especially for people that like mountains and trains):

Just outside Josh and Sopho's in Gastown

They put us up at Josh's dads 2 beddy so it felt a bit like hotel living for a couple of days in Vancouver - it was sensational. The first night we got in turned out to be fairly big. After a sleep we headed out to Chambar (Josh is the bar manager) and ate incredible food and sipped fancy drinks

...and followed the meal up by watching Vancouver Canucks slam the Detroit Redwings at the hockey.

Then we were off to Boneta where Brand greeted us with Coopers Sparkling and more shots. Met up with Rhek and Scratch Bastid who kindly put us all on the door for SB's gig later that night. I managed to go out for a little bit (against the wishes of my jetlag) because I missed out on Fav Rock, but it didn't last long. The boys however, were out until early and against all odds, managed to find their way home.

Next day we were out and about in Vancity...

Front page news

Walking downtown - the triplets

Van - looking good as always

and got seats at the local hockey (Vancouver Giants v Kelowna Rockets) and we were so close that it was almost too close. I got a good look at one of the Van players getting his front tooth pushed back in place by the medic. There were plenty of fights and K-town kicked some Vancity ass in an overtime shootout which made me happy.

Monday morning we were off to Big White in this hire car - it ruled

If anyone was wondering what 'Cracktown' is...
Yep, they're all homeless, or dealing or crazy. Cracktown aka Gastown, the most historic part of Van is home to crackies and their trolley's.

On the way to Big White, we saw these

Sorry guys, we did take a photo of the tracks that Rambo rode his stolen bike over, but I think I deleted it. So here's a pic of the bridge instead:

We managed to go riding for an hour and a half yesterday because we're soooo fit. A little longer today. Now we're off to gorge ourselves on 30c wings at Snowshoe Sam's.

Eh?

What's going on? Well, my phone doesn't work (the lady that didn't know where Canada was failed to tell me I wouldn't be able to use my phone overseas), I can receive txt but that's about it. Boo!

Wireless doesn't seem to be working but hopefully we'll work that out soon...

Thursday, February 21

I'm the only person that thinks this is funny. It's your new name Chenny. I hope you like it.

Not long now...

12 days to go!

Huge thanks to Josh and Sopho for scoring us all tix to Canucks v Redwings on the 23rd!

I can almost taste Bons Off Broadway.
